THIS WEEK

One of the morning’s great events: the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club’s annual Holiday Breakfast. A roomful of energy-packed kids waiting to see Santa and pick up a gift. An even larger roomful of parents watching all this commotion with beaming smiles. A buffet breakfast that’s out of this world. Holiday songs and entertainment. Don’t miss the annual Christmas Breakfast this Friday, December 17, at 7:00 a.m. at the Glendale Country Club. Remember, guests and members are to park in the upper parking lot. See you there!

ADMIN CORNER

At the end of the Christmas Breakfast, the BBRC’s calendar year operations will come to a close. There are no more meetings scheduled in December, because of the coming Christmas and New Year holidays. Meetings resume on January 7th with an off-site meeting at Sammamish High School. (Glendale is closed through January 13).

With the end of the quarter comes a new billing period, the 3rd, which begins January 1. For those who have not yet covered your obligations from the 2nd Quarter, the Treasurer would appreciate a remittance prior to January 1. Mail your check to BBRC, PO Box 3003, Bellevue WA 98009-3003. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

In the dark of the December morning, President Norm opened proceedings by introducing Jim Young for the invocation and pledge, followed by Michael Ralph who greeted visiting Rotarians and guests.

Norm reminded Rotarians to sign up online for the Christmas Breakfast the club needs to know whether you WILL be attending OR NOT.

President-Elect Steve Lingenbrink was called forward to review the results of the 2004 Raffle. Steve introduced Gary Smith, past Mercer Island Rotary president, as the winner of the raffle. Gary said he was shopping one fall afternoon at QFC on Mercer Island and was offered the chance to buy a ticket from Larry May. “I didn’t have any change, but had a $4.19 refund check from the phone company. I told Larry I’d buy a ticket when I left the store. That’s what I did ... bought one ticket for $2.00 and won the car!”

Lingenbrink reported the final figures are still being assessed. “We should net close to $130,000. That’s a record-breaking raffle!”

FriPot2Rotarians of the Month all had an important role in the raffle. Terry Peterson, Rich Hammond and Cyril Faulkner served as the Raffle Treasurer’s Committee, staffing the table from mid-August to the close at the end of October. They each received a plaque and the gratitude of the membership.
