The Friday Program: The Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club gathered at Willows Lodge, south of Woodinville, to mark the clubs 19th anniversary last Friday evening with an elegant party, attracting members, spouses and guests. One-hundred people attended the affair. With Chris Ballard and Nick Paget doing the honors as co-masters of ceremonies, the crowd enjoyed a reception prior to dinner and then settled in for a delicious meal, served by a battery of waitpersons. After a brief history of the BBRC, Peter Powell, Club Service II Director was asked to deliver the invocation and Chris Monger welcomed guests. The meal, consisting of three courses, featured entrées of Beef Tenderloin, Pan Roasted Chicken or Vegetarian plate. A short program followed the meal when the winner of the annual Raffle was announced. Winner of the 2004 Volkswagen Convertible was Gary Smith of Mercer Island. Gary bought a book of tickets from Larry May and one was drawn at the official drawing, Thursday, at 1:30, in Kirkland. The Smiths (Gary and his wife Mary Lou) were unable to attend Fridays dinner as they are retired and spend the winter in Arizona. Gary served as President of the Mercer Island Rotary Club in 1993. The new raffle winners are good friends with Andrew Faces family. Andrews dad Ned served as president of the Mercer Island Rotary Club in 1946. Because of the fall of the calendar this year, a squeeze is being put on the efforts at raising the needed foodstuffs and money to support our annual Thanksgiving Basket Project. Although there will be no fundraising at the Anniversary Dinner this Friday, Rotarians can bring checks to that event for the Thanksgiving Baskets Project. The final day of contributions will be Friday, November 19. Please bring your checks on that date. You can also help by bringing an item from the food list.
Bring your donations to the Friday, November 19th, meeting. The Community Service Committee will do a shopping spree that afternoon, buying the number of turkeys needed and other items for the Thanksgiving menu. You may join the committee for the shopping spree, and youll learn how you can help deliver the baskets to the recipients. A very successful project is the Thanksgiving Baskets collection. Your help is appreciated! There are several upcoming programs that all members should be aware of: December 3 - OFF-SITE MEETING! December 17 January 7 Thought for the Week On the occasion of the BBRCs 19th Anniversary, the definition of a Silver Wedding Anniversary is when a man celebrates working for the same boss for 25 years!
