ADMIN CORNER

Mix has been in the corner for several weeks now, and he is about ready to come out of hiding. A word of advice: don’t have too many “procedures” in a short period of time! Remember to keep your account current and continue doing make-ups. The Retention Committee would like to see us all above 70%! Happy Anniversary, BBRC!

A Mini-Assembly Club Service II

AssemblyPowell2The Membership functions of the BBRC came under close scrutiny by those who serve this important category. With Director Peter Powell acting as master of ceremonies, Club Service II gave a brief look at its operations so far this year.

AssemblyOBrien2Membership Coordination is headed up by Rourke O’Brien. This is the group that orchestrates recruiting efforts, follows the application process and interviews prospective new members prior to induction. Rourke said, “It’s time we got going on our new members campaign. Good Rotarians get to be good when they get involved in the service of the club. Don’t be shy; invite a potential member to a free breakfast. Invite your best friend. Just ask those you’d like to see become new Rotarians.”

AssemblyMcCaulley2New Member Experience is a monthly get-together by the club’s newcomers who learn the ins and outs of our Rotary Club. Wayne McCaulley has been chairing this successful project for several years. They meet the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 a.m. at Jitters, in the Sears shopping area in Redmond. Some new features include a Mentoring Pprogram for new members involving more of the existing membership. NME attendees have a one-year obligation to run the table as new members. They use the Famous Kopczynski Operations Manual to guide their way. New members also received a free, $950 Original Dick Brown BBRC Leather Bag. Oh, to be young again!

AssemblyOwensThe Retention Committee has come under the spell of Jim Owens, who told the membership that being in Rotary is “just like getting married. It takes work to make it work! The more hands and heads we have, the more effective we are. Attendance is important. The Retention Committee keeps up on member attendance, knowing full well that keeping track of attendance reduces dropouts. The only reasons we accept for leaving the club is death or job transfer!” Thus speaketh Sir James.

AssemblyMartinka2As a special endeavor of the Retention operation, Rotary International selected the BBRC as one of 34 clubs to participate in a 3-year program to expand and track efforts to mobilize retention successes. John Martinka has willingly taken the reins of this project, moving soon into its second year. To highlight the importance of the Martinka Manifesto.

Assembly42The Peanut Players went onstage to emphasize the importance of retention. Officer Chris Ballard came fully prepared to make arrests, Otis Spleekmeyer and his girlfriend Stella Bella staggered over from West Seattle, and Judge Jenny put it all to rest with a couple of pronouncement from the bench each of which cost the membership money!

Peter Powell summed it all up by saying, “Look to your friends and invite them to take a look at us.”
