THIS WEEK

Betty Tisdale is founder and president of HALO. This organization is dedicated to bettering the lives of orphans and at-risk children around the world, especially in developing countries, such as Vietnam, Columbia and Afghanistan. She was featured in a recent PBS documentary about the “babylift” from An Loc at the end of the Vietnam War. She is known as the “Angel of Vietnam.” Don’t miss this special program. Bring a guest/potential member. Glendale Country Club at 7:00 a.m. Friday!

ADMIN CORNER

This Friday, Tom Smith takes over the editor’s chair to publish next week’s Reveille. Tom will be ably assisted by Photographer Jim Kindsvater and Master Designer and Web Grunt Robin Stark.

For those members who are in need of a photo for their directory page, we’ll be taking another round of pictures in mid-April. Look for the time, date and place.

We’re into the final month of Rotary’s 3rd Quarter. Boy, does time fly! The Treasurer would like to inform those members who have yet to fulfill their billing obligations to kindly enclose payment as soon as possible. Your cooperation is gratefully accepted.


Three New Members Proposed:
Hendershott, Wood & Kippen

The BBRC Board of Directors has approved the applications of three prospective members. Please read the following descriptions of the applicants and make any comments prior to the deadline to Peter Powell.

Gregory (Greg) Alan Hendershott

Greg is a lawyer with Seattle law firm Dorsey and Whitney,. His classification is proposed to be “Law Practice-Employment.” He is sponsored by Carlene Buty and Bob Moloney, with Jane Kuechle as co-sponsor. Greg is married to Elizabeth and they have an almost-2-year-old son, Keith. The Hendershott’s live in Bellevue. Greg has done substantial pro bono legal work for Community Legal Services. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers and Society for Human Resource Management. He is also a member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church. Greg enjoys golf, snowboarding and biking. He has a membership at the Bellevue Club.

LeeAnn Wood

LeeAnn is the Director of the Overlake Hospital Medical Center Foundation and is sponsored by John Sheeran. She has held her position at Overlake since February of 2000 and formerly worked for Easter Seals. Her classification is proposed to be “Fundraising-Healthcare.” LeeAnn is married to Daniel Wood and they live in Fall City.

LeeAnn has a long list of activities as a volunte:. Overlake Auxiliary, Leave a Legacy of Western Washington (Chairperson), Our Lady of Sorrows volunteer lector, Sacred Heart Crossroads meals project, past volunteer at King County Sexual Assault Center, and Union Gospel Mission.

LeeAnn is a member of Association of Healthcare Professionals, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and a board member and program chair of the Washington Planned Giving Council. She is also a past member of the Board of Directors of Advance Bellevue.

LeeAnn has vocal musical talent, enjoys hobbies such as glass fusing, travel and cooking, and she enjoys skiing and summer fairs. She has a membership at the Bellevue Club.

Rodd Kippen

Rodd and his wife Noreen are Newcastle resident and, parents to three children: Anthony (27), Amanda (25), and Michael (20). Rodd is President of Pro-Cost, a construction cost management firm. His classification is proposed to be “Quantity Surveyor,” which is also his occupation.

Rodd is a former member of the Overlake Rotary Club. His family is involved at The Gathering Place Church and he lists four associations he is a member of: MAQS, RQS, MRICS and AACE. All of these relate to his work as an engineer and surveyor. Soon, Rodd may be able to add BBRC to that list.

Rodd claims to have “nil” for musical talents. His hobbies include bird watching, golf, travel and workouts at the gym. Rodd’s sponsor is Bill Brooks.
