THIS WEEK

Betty Tisdale is founder and president of HALO. This organization is dedicated to bettering the lives of orphans and at-risk children around the world, especially in developing countries, such as Vietnam, Columbia and Afghanistan. She was featured in a recent PBS documentary about the “babylift” from An Loc at the end of the Vietnam War. She is known as the “Angel of Vietnam.” Don’t miss this special program. Bring a guest/potential member. Glendale Country Club at 7:00 a.m. Friday!

ADMIN CORNER

This Friday, Tom Smith takes over the editor’s chair to publish next week’s Reveille. Tom will be ably assisted by Photographer Jim Kindsvater and Master Designer and Web Grunt Robin Stark.

For those members who are in need of a photo for their directory page, we’ll be taking another round of pictures in mid-April. Look for the time, date and place.

We’re into the final month of Rotary’s 3rd Quarter. Boy, does time fly! The Treasurer would like to inform those members who have yet to fulfill their billing obligations to kindly enclose payment as soon as possible. Your cooperation is gratefully accepted.

Friday Potpourri

GreetersNorm Johnson opened the meeting, noting that it’s getting “lighter every Friday.” He introduced Alan Forney for the invocation and pledge, and Hans Giner greeted three visiting Rotarians and several guests. Rotarians helping us have a good meeting included Jim Trombold, Mercer Island; Shawn Rhode, Bellevue; and Stan Foster, Seattle #4.

Staffing the Cashier’s Table was Jeff Maxwell. Snapping photos was Jim Kindsvater.

Bob and Esther Moloney were congratulated with a round of applause for their magical work on this year’s successful Valentine’s Dinner.

BallardPresident Johnson noted that Rotary’s100th Anniversary of Rotary, Monday, February 21, Olympia, Capitol will include a rally of Rotarians from Districts within Washington. Rotary’s actual birthday is Wednesday, February 23, when Paul Harris convened his other three friends in the first meeting of what was to become the world’s largest and finest service organization.

Chris Ballard who moves into the Sergeant At Arms job next July, warmed up in the absence of Jenny Andrews to show the membership his “Campaign of Fear.” For instance, he had all members stand, and those without Rotary Pins were requested to put $2 on the table. New target Margie Burnett will rue the day she got playful with her classification. Now, along with Rourke O’Brien, she can expect to be fined for the smallest little incident. Friday, she put $2 on the table for little or no reason.
