Seahawks Round-Up
Brian Davis, voice of the Seahawks on the weekly KIRO radio broadcast, is in the midst of his fourth year delivering the play-by-play to a vast Pacific Northwest network of fans. As of Sunday’s game, the Hawks are riding high atop the West division of the NFC, with wins over the other three teams in their division – St. Louis, Arizona and, last night, Dennis Erickson’s San Francisco 49-ers. The team’s best start in its 27-year history gives the Hawks and 4-1 record, with wins over New Orleans, and the three teams in their division.
Davis was notably upbeat about the success of the club. A strengthened offensive line and a re-worked defense orchestrated by Ray Rhodes, has given the Mike Holmgren-led Seahawks a move to respectability. Sunday night’s 67,000 fans created the first sell-out in many memories, as ESPN carried the game live to a nationwide audience.
Davis pointed out that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has “come of age” and is leading the club with vigor. Shaun Alexander rushed for 77 yards and had three receptions for 46 yards. Next Sunday, the Chicago Bears come to town for an afternoon tussle.

The discussion turned to the work the Seahawks do in the community. Vice President of Community Relations Tim Flood explained the various programs the Seahawks have initiated that help kids and schools. “Each week, our team is out completing projects that show their dedication for making this a better place to live. You don’t hear about a lot of what they do, because they’re not in it for the publicity. But, nevertheless, the ball club is committed to help where they can.”
President Brian Evison (R) thanks Brian Davis for his presentation, apparently in an extremely amusing fashion.

Davis answered several questions about the franchise, to include queries about whether Holmgren’s shucking the General Manager’s job has made a difference in his coaching. Davis’ reply was, “Well, he’s more relaxed.”
President Brian presented Brian with the certificate that notes the BBRC has donated a book in Brian Davis’ name to a needy child on the Eastside. Thanks to Steve Goldfarb for his introduction.
