Raffle Update

Grand Prize!Hard to believe, but there’s just three more weeks remaining in the 2003 Raffle. Raffle Czar Zidar urged members to begin wrapping up their individual efforts, remembering that Raffle Treasurer Kevin Jewell needs ALL the stubs of the sales you’ve made and ALL of the unused tickets that you’ve not sold. Avoid the last minute rush and get your Raffle House in order.

For those who need reminding, our raffle is the largest such event in the state of Washington. And, it is run by the Club under the rules promulgated by the Washington State Gambling Commission. For this reason, each member is responsible for his or her assigned tickets and sold stubs. It is the Raffle Committee’s job to track each ticket, sold or unsold. So, a word to the wise: Sell all your tickets in numerical order. Turn in your sales as soon as you can. If you intend to make a contribution instead of selling the tickets, you need to turn in your un-sold tickets along with your check and this will be noted on your turn-in sheet.

Under the results of a recent audit, the Gambling Commission is requiring Kevin and his committee to create a report that lists every member and all of the ticket numbers issued and tickets returned. At the end of the raffle, the State expects that the Committee’s report will show every individual “zeroed out,” with no remaining tickets.

Have pity on the Raffle Committee. Do your bookwork and have your form completed along with your stubs and ANY UNSOLD TICKETS IN NUMERICAL ORDER for turn-in.

Kevin reports 33,000 tickets unsold. If that number holds up, this raffle will have the best odds of any previous raffle. After turn-in on Friday, $59,786 in sales has been tallied.

Those members cracking the Platinum Record barrier (sales of over $1,000) include Mary Bell, Norm Johnson, Jenny Andrews, Don Deasy, Jim Gordon**, Kim Shrader***, Jim Young, Tom Smith, Brian Heimbigner, Kevin Jewell, Bill Spencer, Shelley Noble, Dick Clarke, Peter Powell, Chuck Barnes, Rick Klobucher, John Martinka, Jim Zidar, Steve Lingenbrink, Carlene Buty, Howard Johnson, Dick Tschetter, Tom Purdy, and Colly Radford.
