Raffle Update – Battle of the Bands

Jim Zidar
Jim Zidar

Jim Zidar, Chair of the Raffle underway at full steam, gave a “Half Way” report Friday. “We’ve got $30,000 in the barn, but it’s time to crank up the music! We know there are lots of you sitting on a lot of money, so kindly make a deposit with our accounting crew this Friday and relieve our anxieties!!”

Jim revealed that five members had cut Gold Records at this point, with sales of $850 to $999. Chuck Barnes, John Martinka, Jim Gordon, Elizabeth Sicktich and Tom Purdy all have become famous. However, eight members have become Platinum Record holders, with sales of $1,000 or more. This illustrious list includes Rick Klobucher, Kevin Jewell, Don Deasy, Tom Smith, Kim Shrader, Jim Young, and the Johnson boys, Howard and Norm.

Vaulting in to the Hall of Fame with her latest song “Cruisin’ with the Flute,” Mary Bell showed her spiked heels to the rest of the bands with a humungous early effort. Mary has exceeded her great sales achievement of last year ($5,000) to bank a total of $5,930 so far.

Zidar said,t “People are in a much more giving mood, showing that the economy may be turning around.” He said that two new sales spots are opening up in the next couple of weeks, at Crossroads Mall on October 4 and 5 and Totem Lake Mall on Oct 11 and 12. There’s room for ten sales people each weekend at both locations. “We’ve never sold at these two locations, so they ought to be great!”

Jim Gordon arose to show off his fantastic sales gimmick. “I went to the dealership (Chaplin’s Volkswagen) and for $5.95, bought a model Volkswagen convertible, just like the one we’re raffling off. The doors open, the trunk opens … it works just like the real thing. You put that down in front of a potential ticket buyer and they can’t resist!” Jim oughta know, he’s parlayed his rookie year into a Gold Record and he’s not done yet!

The model Bug is available at the dealership.
