Friday Potpourri

President Steve Goldfarb opened last Friday’s meeting with a comment about the continued energy displayed by the 91 members in attendance.

Dan Lewis delivered the invocation, followed by the pledge to the flag.

Daniel Feussner greeted six visiting Rotarians who were asked to name their favorite song.

Alan Bohling, Mr. RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) for the BBRC, rose to extol the virtues of Rotary’s premier conference for high schoolers that takes place at Pacific Lutheran University each year. “We need candidates for applications now,” said Alan. “Students should be juniors or seniors. They can be children of Rotarians or others you may know. RYLA consistently is one of the watershed events in a young person’s life.” If you have nominees, contact Alan Bohling as soon as possible.

Vince Lorrain, seemingly a holder of the Red Badge forever, was relieved of the red one in favor of the permanent Blue Badge. Congratulations, Vince, and thanks for waiting!

Earl Falk reminded members of the Rotary First Harvest Work Party, this coming Saturday, February 9, at Pier 91 in Seattle. Work begins at 9:00 a.m. and continues until 12:00 noon. Bring other family members for a meaningful three hours helping our community!

Community Service Committee will meet right after this week’s meeting, (February 8) according to chair Madeline Gauthier.
