Friday Potpourri

Hague, Anderson, Goff
Rookie members John Hague and Suzanne Goff (R) greet another rookie member, Robin Anderson.

President Goldfarb kept up his 100% attendance and opened Friday’s proceedings. Newcomer John Hague gave the invocation and led the pledge. Suzanne Goff welcomed two visiting Rotarians and other guests. Jenson Hagen, CPA, a recent Idaho grad and new employee at Johnson & Shute in Bellevue, was a visitor.

Frank Stillo, long-time member of the BBRC who recently resigned because of health reasons, is receiving treatment for leukemia. In addition, his wife Chris was injured in a car accident over this past weekend and is hospitalized at Evergreen. If your Rotary heart is pumping, you might send a card to Frank and Chris, 24111 N.E. 14th St., Sammamish, WA 98073.

Jim Young, speaking for the BBRC Foundation, said the Committee is “close to being able to present its major grant nominations to the BBRC Board.” Jim reminded members that United Way gifts can be designated to 501© (3) BBRC Foundation.

Shelley Noble talked about the Hopelink gift room, a pleasant shopping environment for parents to select gifts for their families. “We need helpers to give our parents assistance in the gift room. Sign-up sheets are available.”

Dick Brown announced a special Past Presidents meeting, on Wednesday, November 28, at the new Starbucks at Bellevue Square, northeast corner of the Square, next to the Lodge. There will be an annual review of the current year, with some ideas for President Goldfarb.

Sergeant At Arms Jay Powers raised a few bucks for the SAA Fund by fining those people who had yet to RSVP for this week’s dinner cruise. It cost a few people $2.00.

The November birthday list is crowded, and it’s also the Club Anniversary, when, 16 years ago, the BBRC was chartered. There are currently nine Charter Members active in the BBRC, celebrating their anniversaries this month.
