The Power of Optimism

Adam Khan, author and consultant, presented a program on the Power of Optimism, coming from his book Self Help Stuff That Works (available at amazon.com).

Khan, an engaging redhead, offered some new ideas about how to handle setbacks and our explanations to ourselves about what caused the setbacks. He maintains that there is only one skill a person needs, and that is identifying the mistakes that cause the setbacks. He provided a list of seven mistakes that humans use when trying to explain why a certain setback occurred. He reasons that if everyone were to memorize the list of seven, they would instantly recognize the mistake, and thoughts would cease to affect your feelings. More

HopelinkIn ceremonies Friday morning, Dorene Marchione, Executive Director of Hopelink, accepted the final check of a three-year commitment by the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club Rick Klobucher, Chairperson of the BBRC Foundation Committee, explained that the Club has completed the obligation made when it pledged $60,000 over three years – $22,000 in each of the first two years and $16,000 as a final payment. This was the first time the BBRC had extended its major grant over more than a one-year period. More

Kindsvater The Photog

Jim Kindsvater
Kindsvater at work.

Jim Kindsvater, without too much cajoling, has accepted the post of staff photographer. As you know, it is almost impossible for a person to be in attendance for every meeting, every year. With that in mind, if you’d like to join the Photographer’s Corps and have exciting assignments like covering the Best Legs Contest or the breeching of the Maginot Line, you might just be the person the Communications Staff is looking for. Apply within.
