President Kopczynski, "wired" up for his Rotary Minute.

President Kopczynski used his Rotary Minute to show slides of sights and scenes of Buenos Aires, site of the 2000 RI Convention. He said the city was a colorful, Western European-looking place,
where 15,000 Rotarians, representing 120 countries, convened to meet in early June. One of the highlights included a 30-foot high statue of Paul Harris (How’d they get that there?)
It was Frank Devlyn’s convention, as he outlined what his year was going to accomplish. Cary said what impressed him was Rotary’s accomplishments in the world-wide attempt to eradicate polio and
other childhood diseases. “In 1985, Rotary determined to eliminate polio from the earth …at that time, there were 1,000 cases a day. Today, polio
is but a memory in most countries …only in Africa will you find it, at the rate of 30 cases a day.” Rotary’s goal is to shut down polio by the year
2005, in recognition of the world’s largest service club’s centennial celebration.
