The Friday Program Washington Business Week One of Washington States most successful programs will celebrate its 30th anniversary in a few years, and it counts among its staunchest supporters the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club. Since 1988, the BBRC has appropriated funds for scholarships to high school students attending Washington Business Week. Steve Hyer, Executive Director of WBW since 1996, gave members a recap of the accomplishments of the organization. The Foundation for Private Enterprise Education is the sponsoring entity for Business Week, with a co-sponsorship by the Association of Washington Business. Business Week was created back in 1976 to help high school students learn more about business. About 600 high school students from around the state gather on three college campuses for a week-long, intensive study that seeks to teach that profit is not bad. Students get a hands-on learning experience, said Hyer. They really get to apply things theyve learned during the week. They learn to work as a team. The experience has shown that attendees become better citizens and employees. Business Week is open to any age high school student. Friday, November 12, at Willows Lodge in Woodinville will be the site of the BBRCs annual anniversary dinner. Besides a wonderful meal and stirring entertainment, the winner of the 2004 Raffle will be announced and introduced to the crowd. The drawing for the winner will be held the day before at the Trane offices in Redmond. Sayoko Powell and her Fellowship Committee is planning a fine affair, so mark your calendars! Another Fellowship activity is an after-hours social on Tuesday, October 26. This is a joint gathering with members of the Bellevue Noon Club and will be held at Sadru Kabanis wonderful digs on Lake Washington. More details to follow. 20 Years & Counting With the Brothers Four Elder and Adult Day Service (EADS) celebrates its 20th anniversary serving the Eastside. BBRC Rotarian Jan Nestler invites all BBRC members to attend the Anniversary Gala, slated for Friday evening, October 15, at the Ballroom at the Golf Club at Newcastle. The event is set for 6:00 p.m. that night. Highlight of the evening is a concert by The Brothers Four, Americas Musical Ambassadors to the World. These globe-trotting musicians have enthralled audiences for years. They bring their harmony and folk music to this gala affair. Dont miss it! Seating is limited. Call 425-736-9113 for information and reservations. Thought for the Week Attach yourself to your passion, but not to your pain. Adversity is your best friend on the path to success.
