EdbergPast President Sharon Edberg was tapped to give Friday’s Rotary Minute. Her topic was District 5030, the district which the BBRC is part of. “District 5030 has 51 clubs, with several more being chartered in the next few months,” Sharon said. “The District offers many educational opportunities to become better Rotarians and work with other clubs. The District sponsors many projects that help people in our area, including Rotacare Clinics, Rotary First Harvest and the Rotary Homeless Youth Project to name a few.”

The District Conference is a “showcase of what we do and where we meet to recognize the worthwhile projects underway. This year’s conference is in Portland, OR, beginning Friday, April 30, through Sunday, May 2.”

There are other valuable meetings that build Rotary character. “The District Leadership Assembly is slated for April 17 at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church. The President-Elect Training Seminar brings new leaders from three states to learn how to be better leaders. Other projects of note include the National Immunization Days held in Ethiopia to eradicate polio, Group Study Exchange — this year with East Africa and a special Leadership Conference to focus on Membership Development and the Rotary Foundation.”
