With the sound of the horn this Friday morning, the 2003 Eighth Annual BBRC Golf Outing will signal the beginning of one of the most successful fundraising events held in the world of Rotary as well as the state of Washington. When it’s all over, the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club will have raised over $100,000 to disburse to worthwhile charities needing our support.

Who can forget the faces of the Students of the Month who have been honored every? The scholarship winners who will go on to be successes in their fields thanks to our support? The agencies who have benefited by our club’s stewardship – Camp Stand by Me/Easter Seals, Hopelink, Agros, Goodwill, Olive Crest, Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, The Kindering Center, YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs, and many more.

Nowhere in the world does philanthropy go farther than in our great country, which extends its reach around the globe. Rotary is at the forefront of these efforts and the BBRC has contributed greatly to expand our help to those who will help themselves. Missions to Romania, Russia, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, and Brazil are among the many to receive the benevolence of the BBRC Foundation.

So, the march begins toward the goal of 100% member participation and the extreme satisfaction that our hard work will pay off in spades to those who receive our assistance. It all starts this Friday when the 8th Annual Golf Outing kicks off at 8:00 a.m. at the beautiful Mt. Si course (7:00 a.m. registration and continental breakfast). Outing managers say there are still spots available for you if you’ve not yet elected to play. And, for those who can support in other ways, there are hole and tee sponsorships and other creative sponsorships.

Contact either Paul Martin at pmartin@themartinfg.com or 425-450-4940; or Robin Callan, rcallan@advrenaltech.com or 425-453-8777, and reserve that special spot now.

At the conclusion of the Outing, a barbecue lunch will be wound around the awards ceremony, where individuals and teams will be recognized for their achievement on the course. A beautiful day is in store, and all BBRC members are invited to attend some or all of the festivities. Members can keep their attendance in shape by showing up at 7:00 a.m for breakfast; or by playing in the Outing itself; or by attending the Barbecue Lunch shortly after 1:00 p.m. This is a great event and you’ll have a great time.

Remember, the Golf Outing raises the funds to pay the costs of prizes for the Raffle, including the grand prize of the car. This is the important first step that makes the BBRC Raffle the largest in the state of Washington and gives the Club the discretion of placing over $100,000 in the hands of worthwhile charities, helping people in our community.
