White Collar Espionage

A discussion about how to control white collar crime in the business environment was led by Steve Roberts, CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner, along with his side-kick, John Patterson, CPA. Both have extensive experience in forensic accounting or the examination for fraud.

Since the 1980’s, investigative accountants have played a major role in uncovering an area known as “managed earnings cases and theft,” which have been identified by an “opportunity to book entries and move earnings around,” allowing persons perpetrating the fraud to make off with large sums of money. Paul Harris Fellowship Grows

Charter Rotarian Terry Baker elected to honor his wife with the presentation of the 157th Paul Harris Certificate awarded by the BBRC and Rotary International. Marge Baker has been one of the club’s staunchest supporters from the get-go and it was great to see her receive recognition in this special way. According to Chuck Barnes, there are 77 Paul Harris Fellows of different stripes and textures in today’s BBRC. Quite an accomplishment and a big boost for the Rotary Foundation. Congratulations to the Bakers!

You’ve all received Robin Stark’s email concerning viruses and stuff. I got the stuff last week and turned my computer over to the surgical staff of the TLC hospital. They cleaned out its innards and I’m starting life anew with a fast-acting computer (mainly because it doesn’t have much on its mind) and the prospect of loading all kinds of goodies dealing with the administration of the BBRC. I guess it’s not a bad idea to have a cleaning every now and then, but I’m really getting too old for this! So, bear with me for the next few weeks as I reconstruct all of the files and things that keep this club moving at a fast pace.
