Burn Foundation Receives Check

Sharon Edberg

Steve Roberts, Chairperson of the BBRC Foundation Committee, made the first of several grants to area organizations, with a check for $5,000 going to the Northwest Burn Foundation. Sharon Edberg, Executive Director and a Past President of the BBRC, gratefully accepted the funds. “These funds are for an educational program for Northwest Burn Foundation,” reported Edberg. “Our goal is to help educate parents about the dangers of inadvertently scalding their children. We will take these funds to produce new brochures for use by a diverse audience. This includes designing refrigerator magnets so this message is always displayed in homes.”

Roberts said the Committee worked several weeks on the 21 grant requests received from charities. After pairing down the requests to six finalists, the Committee visited each of the organizations and decided to fund three: Northwest Burn Foundation for $5,000; Hopelink for $20,000; and the last payment of $16,000 of the three-year $50,000 grant to the Kindering Center. A presentation to Hopelink will follow soon.
