Julie Pettit - Adoption Program Manager

Julie Pettit will discuss changes in both the federal and Washington state child welfare systems over the past five years to include moving toward more guardianships. Her presentation will be via Zoom since she is located in Vancouver Washington.
About the Speaker
Julie Pettit has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Washington and is licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington. Her experience in child welfare expands over 20 years to include work in Oregon and Washington. She began working for Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (previously known as Children’s Administration under DSHS) in 2008. She provided adoption services for foster children as a front-line worker for six years prior to becoming a supervisor for a unit of adoption workers. In 2019, Ms. Pettit became the Adoption Program Manager for the Department of Children, Youth and Families. This position provides guidance and support to adoption caseworkers in the field as well as work with legislation and policy implementation.
