The 2003 BBRC Golf Outing
Mix with the freebies and Ederer with registration. |
On a beautiful Dick Brown Day, the Eighth Annual BBRC Golf Outing went off without a hitch with 128 players vying for awards. The Mt. Si Golf Course never looked better.
Registration opened at 7:00 a.m. with Ted Ederer in charge. Mulligans were purchased to keep the players on course. Representatives from Wells Fargo Bank were in attendance to distribute sleeves of golf balls and tees. With the last-minute frantic warm-up at the driving range, the shotgun start sent teams out to the far reaches of the idyllic morning scene. The horn sounded shortly after 8:00 a.m. and the match was on!
Women’s Team (L-R): Margie Burnett, Carlene Buty, Sue Carroll & Jane Kuechle
|
Five-and-a-half hours later, the participants converged on the barbecue and the awards ceremony. Some of the awards are yet to be made, but the winners of the Annika Sorenstam Division (Women’s) was the team of Margie Burnett, Jane Kuechle, Carlene Buty, and Sue Carroll. Mark Esteb’s team took the Freddie Couples Division trophy with a 16 under score. The Rich Beem Division, for fun-loving golfers, was won by Paul Martin’s team which included Tim Kennedy, John Peterson, and Brad Vaughn. Second place was the team captained by Ruben Ladlad. Still out there are awards for longest drive, closest to the pin, and straightest drive.
An accounting of the event will show good success in raising the funds to pay for the expenses of the raffle, which include the prizes – including the grand prize, the car. So, committee members were pleased at the showing by the individual golfers and teams and by the support of the corporate sponsors. A recap of the Golf Outing’s success will appear in a future issue of Reveille.
Boy, were those hamburgers good at the Mt. Si Bistro! A good time was had by all.

Pictured at right is a group of retired tennis players, led by Norris Bevan (foreground). These stout-hearted men play each Friday morning at the Bellevue Club and then adjourn for breakfast at a favorite eating spot. The Mt. Si Bistro has become a favorite, so Norris and another Rotarian, John Shaw of the Bellevue Rotary Club, brought the group to Snoqualmie. Norris, as you all recall, is credited with being the “Father of the BBRC,” having been in charge of club extension back in 1985 when the BBRC was chartered.
