This program should not be mistaken for a sequel to the 1963 James Bond film starring Sean Connery, Daniela Bianchi and Robert Shaw! Instead it will star our own Howard Johnson, his grandson and son-in-law! Howard will share a set of photos taken during their train ride (mostly) across Russia from Moscow to Lake Baikal last summer. It was a trip Howard took with his grandson and son-in-law that saw them travel over 3,000 miles across five time zones. That is equivalent to the distance from Seattle to Washington DC.
The photos are not perfect (as they were taken on a couple of cell phones) but the experience of delivering monies to Lutheran churches across Russia and seeing Lake Baikal, the largest fresh water lake in the world, could be of interest to those thinking about future travel to Russia. The pictures from Novosibirsk, Siberia include a Rotarian (and his son) who served as our host in that city in central Siberia. Novosibirsk is the capital of Siberia and has a population of 1.4 million.
