Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club has been hosting our Annual “Family Fun Fest” aka “Adoption Party” for well over 10 years now. This is one of the most popular and beloved projects within our club and has very high club member engagement and participation. The impact of this project can easily & instantly be both seen and felt by our members.
The children (ages 18 mo – 18 years) and potential adoptive parents are welcomed into a fair-like environment at a local Elementary School’s cafeteria / gym. Each child is given a “Question Card” and each set of parents a set of stickers. The children are encouraged to fill up their “question card” with stickers by asking the adults various questions from the card. Once the “Question Card” is filled up, the children can turn it in for a prize of their choice!
The Rotary Club also sets up various “Stations” with activities that encourages interaction. These “Stations” range from Fingernail Polishing & Face Painting to Battling Beyblades & Race Cars to games of Foos ball & Corn Hole. Halfway through the program, a simple lunch of Pizza, Salad and Cookies are served. The relaxed atmosphere allows the potential parents and children to really talk, interact and get a feel for one another.
Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club coordinates with our local government organization, The Department of Child, Youth & Family Services (DCYF), to identifying children within the Foster care system that are available for adoption. DCYF also help us to partner with local adoption agencies throughout the state and the Northwest. DCYF puts in a lot of time and energy into this program in partnering with the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary club… and the result is undeniably impactful. Lives are forever changed by the formation of “FOREVER FAMILIES”.
