About the Speaker
Dr. Aramaki is Superintendent of the Bellevue School District, serving approximately 19,000 students. He started his career as a teacher in the Bellevue School District and then as school principal for the Northshore and Seattle School Districts. He has spent his career building world-class education systems to prepare students for an increasingly global world, earning him numerous accolades including the National Milken Educator Award, the 2013 Washington State Principal of the Year, and the Northwest Asian Weekly Visionary Award. Dr. Aramaki earned his Master of Arts in Teaching at Columbia University and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Washington. Dr. Aramaki is a proud Bellevue native, a 4th generation Japanese American whose family farm drew its water from Lake Bellevue, and a graduate of Newport High School. His family currently lives near Interlake High School, where his daughter is a junior.
