Friday Potpourri

With greetings by President Kim Shrader, the audience was introduced to Elizabeth Sicktich, who gave the invocation and led the Pledge, and to Ruben Ladlad, who greeted three visiting Rotarians, Debbie Acton, Bellevue; Phil Noble, Bellevue; and Bob Wylie, Seattle #4.

Also visiting Friday was former BBRC member Sam Bisignano.

Proudly introduced was Baby Carson Fischer, just 3 weeks old. First son of Wendi and Chad Fischer. Handsome young man! Wendi said, “Thanks for the flowers!”

Carlene Buty reported that Dale Hemphill has had a “roller-coaster week,” but at time of publication, he intended to be at this Friday’s meeting. Rotary International owes him his Paul Harris certificate!

Howard Johnson returned from Australia after an extensive five-week trip. “I did one make-up so you wouldn’t throw me out of the Club!” He attended a meeting of the Condobolin Rotary Club of New South Wales on March 4 and had the banner to prove it!

Steve Peters, a member of the World Affairs Council, founded in 1951 to provide a non-partisan forum on international issues, invited members to attend the Washington State Model United Nations at the Washington Convention Center. In view of current international issues, the exercise by high school and college students was timely.
