Friday Potpourri

President Kim Shrader welcomed a near capacity crowd of 97 hardy souls to the first meeting of Spring. Valoree Dowell gave the invocation and led the pledge to the flag. Cyril Faulkner greeted eight visiting Rotarians including Ray Brook, Mercer Island; John Pruitt, Kirkland; Wally Costello, Rob McKenna and Jim Montgomery, Bellevue Noon; Jim Tillman, University; Auggie Kempf and Jon Elmgren, Redmond.

Mix ponders the past 17 years.

In a brief appearance, Sergeant At Arms John Martinka saluted Lt. Col. Tom Smith, who has spent quite a bit of time on the airwaves during the early stages of the Iraq campaign. Tom was featured on the Dori Monson show on KIRO and in a session with Dan Lewis on KOMO-TV 4. Tom, while an Air Force pilot, went on 45 missions during the Gulf War. It doesn’t seem very patriotic, but Martinka fined him $2.00.

John Mix celebrated his 17th year with the BBRC, having joined in March 1986.
