One of the hallmarks of a great Rotary Club has to be the time spent in planning for the continuation of programs that work to the benefit of all members and the community.
Since 1986, the BBRC has annually brought together about half the membership at the Annual Planning Retreat. No matter where it’s held, the Retreat has given the new administration new goals and clearer directions. President-Elect Brian Evison is out to collect the feedback from planning sessions set for Friday evening and Saturday morning, April 4 and 5, at Semi-ah-moo Resort in Blaine. A 2-1/2 hour drive will get you to one of the premier resorts in Washington and the scene of the 2003 BBRC Planning Retreat.
On Friday, April 4, The Loomis Trail Golf Course will attract golfing Rotarians, or nearby shopping will attract buying Rotarians. Friday evening, dinner and fun spells big fellowship to officially kick off the retreat. On Saturday morning, the planning meeting begins with an outline of the issues for the coming year and breakout sessions to help brainstorm answers to the issues. A closing ceremony at noon with a travel lunch to get you home will end the retreat.
Confirmation of attendance is needed by March 5. Deposits to secure your housing will also be needed at that time. Chairman for the event is Peter Powell. Please contact him by phone (Ph 425-828-4444) or email with your name, what kind of accommodations you want, and whether or not you’ll be playing golf.
The success of the Planning Retreat is directly related to the success the BBRC will have in the coming year. It’s a proven fact. And much of the success can be attributed to the large turnout each year. Nearly 50% of the Club attends the retreat. It’s especially valuable for our new members. Mark your calendars for April 4-5 for the BBRC Planning Retreat, and be sure to make your reservations no later than March 5.
