Pins for Rotarians

Owens, Aragon, Shrader
L-R: Jim Owens, DG Rosemary Aragon, Kim Shrader (Margie Burnett was unavailable at photo time)

District Governor Rosemary Aragon – who claims she “doesn’t get enough Rotary” – acknowledged the work of three of our members who journeyed to Ethiopia to help with the National Immunization Days, eradicating polio.

“Sixty-five Rotarians from 5030 went to Ethiopia, what turned out to be a wonderful, yet disturbing, trip. Kim Shrader, Margie Burnett, and Jim Owens represented you in this worthy endeavor. This work to eradicate polio is the right place to start, in view of the fact that we saw evidence of malaria, tetanus, measles, etc. We have to start somewhere and this was the place.”

Rosemary called the three to the front and awarded them a special pin – depicting the world, with a child receiving drops of polio vaccine. The trio was warmly greeted with prolonged applause. Congratulations, Kim, Margie, and Jim! You’ve done us proud!
