The Annual Santa Visit
Phil Salvatori served as Master of Ceremonies for the balance of the morning program. He remarked that the BBRC had provided 125 smiles to patrons of Hopelink and Lake Heights YMCA – presents from the Giving Tree. He thanked the Club for its generosity.
Next, Lynne Gauthier, Community Service Committee Chairperson, told of two families who had received our help at this wondrous time of the year.

Tracy adopted four nieces and nephews when she was 19. She’s provided for them with help from welfare and food stamps. She’s now 25 years old. The BBRC provided a $1,000 grant to purchase necessities for her “family.”
Carmen is married, with three children and a baby due any day. Her husband tries to provide for his family, but work is scarce. They have no furniture, no beds. The Eastside Baby Corner made possible a shopping trip for the newcomer’s clothing, while Lynne took Carmen and one son on a shopping tour to buy clothing, household appliances, and Christmas gifts. Lynne recommended she buy children’s coats, but without resources, they could not imagine spending the money on such things. Lynne reported the family’s needs were so great, that the shopping trip went over the $1,000 limit. She made up the difference out of her own resources. “I don’t know what the outcomes will be in both of these cases.” But, it’s clear that two families are going to celebrate this special season in a way they haven’t seen before, thanks to the BBRC.
