John Martinka was a busy man Friday, auctioning off a beautiful basket of books of Northwest authors, listed as a $200 value. The basket went for $220 to Bill Spencer, and the funds will end up in the raffle.
A report in the Eastside Journal had “Bill Eviston” selling raffle tickets for an unnamed Rotary Club. Can’t seem to get that name, right, can we, Brian Evison?
Terry Peterson, kindly retired Club Secretary, got some play in the Puget Sound Business Journal. An article listed Charter Bank as number 27 of the progressive businesses in the region. “Hey, but we dropped from last year’s #4 spot,” said Terry. Faced with a $27 fine, Peterson purchased a Rotary Insurance Policy (RIP).
Rick Klobucher has returned from his sabbatical, “I’m back from Bridle Trails.” $3.00

Craig Groshart went up front to play the game “To Tell the Truth.” Craig put out these tantalizing tidbits about himself, and the Club had to pick out the false claim.
Craig said he:
- Not always was a journalist – he once drove an18-wheel truck;
- Was a driver for Elvis at the Seattle World’s Fair;
- Met his wife at high school – I was her teacher!
- Interviewed Vincent Price on the subject of interior design and cooking.
Did Craig rob the cradle or meet the King? Joann Thompson was the student and they are happily married. No, Elvis always had the prettiest girls driving him around. With a variety of answers chosen by the rows in the meeting, a total of $49 was raised for the incorrect answers! Nice job, Craig!
