As the Sergeant At Arms World Turns

Bell, Lingenbrink
The Devil was cruisin’ for a bruisin’ and the Angel was brandishing a wand!

Those of you, like this humble scribe, who have felt that Sergeant at Arms John “Sturmtruppen” Martinka was getting a bit out of hand with his excessive fines must have gotten the message through to him.

In a rare act of conciliation, John merely announced those whose Club anniversaries and birthdays took place during the month of October. However, as pianist Jay Powers was about to play the happy birthday anthem, in came the devil, who immediately berated the poor Sergeant at Arms for not being a tougher task master.

Judge Jenny points an accusatory finger, probably at the catalyst, the evil John Martinka.

A short time later, what must have been a guardian angel appeared before the membership to try to insert some starch into the backbone of the Sergeant at Arms.

The devil and the angel looked to be on the verge of an altercation, when Officer Ballard arrived, prepared to haul them all off to jail.

Next, Judge Jenny arrived on the scene, taking matters in hand and presiding over the whole sordid affair.

At this point, as if things weren’t already totally out of hand, who should arrive, but Elvis Presley, himself! After a pathetic rendition of “Jailhouse Rock,” Elvis attempted to show the Sergeant at Arms how to really collect the money.

Steve Goldfarb
Situation: All Shook Up

He happened to have with him a video tape of the guardian angel appearing on the daytime version of “The Weakest Link.” After collecting a number of dollars from Club members trying to guess whether the guardian angel would give the right answers, Elvis departed.

Whew! Stay tuned for another episode of “As the Sergeant At Arms World Turns.” Thanks go to this episode’s two-bit players, Steve Lingendevil, Marybell Angel, Judge Jenny Andrews, and Elvis Goldfarb.
