The Sammamish ReLeaf Project
For the sixth year in a row, the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club shows its interest in the environment by conducting another planting project along the Sammamish River. Vicky Sanko, project chairperson, said the BBRC crew will descend on the site in Marymoor Park at 10:00 a.m. this coming Saturday morning. “Bring boots, gloves and foul-weather gear, depending on the weather forecast, as well as a shovel,” said Vicky.
As pointed out last week by Preserve Planet Earth Committee Chairman Alex Rule, the BBRC has planted well over 30,000 trees and shrubs to make the river more environmentally sound. A team of 25 Rotarians is needed … 19 have signed up. Call Vicky and get involved!
On a related note, Steve Luplow’s son Jake is also heavy into restoring the environment. Check out his email:
Hi, my name is Jake Luplow. I'm a 9th grader at Skyview Jr. High. My dad, Steve Luplow, is a fellow Rotarian. Many of you might remember me from the house painting project and First Harvest. I'm working on my Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project, which is an Environmental Stewardship Project. For this project I need volunteers that can help me plant trees along the Samammish River on 11/9/02 from 9am-1pm. My goal is to plant 120 trees.
Please contact me at: luplows@aol.com or (425)-483-8563 if you can help.
