BELLEVUE BREAKFAST ROTARY CLUB

 IN THIS ISSUE:

Vol. 15, No. 16, October 14, 2002

Hey, Gang!

Don't forget that the raffle ticket label service is open and ready for business.

There are 10,000 brand new labels waiting for our eager sellers to get names, addresses, and, of course, checks.

Wonder how those in First Class and Business Class are getting it done? How in the world can they fill in so many names and numbers? Do you think Mary Bell spends her evenings filling out ticket stubs?

When you find those answers, you will also discover the joy of having preprinted peel-and-stick labels.

Just e-mail the information and the next thing you know you’ll have labels.

Yours for first class travel!

Remember, it's for a good cause.

Raffle Update

Brian Evison, in charge of the raffle, is beginning to have furrows between his eyes. Doesn’t he know the Club waits to check in raffle tickets in the last three weeks of the race? And, that’s exactly where we are. This coming Friday (the 18th) begins the countdown for turning in tickets (and the money that goes with it.) An additional $6,735 was added to the tally Friday to bring the total take to $56,128. That’s a hair over halfway to the goal of $110,000.

Meanwhile, Head Travel Agent Wendi Fischer whipped up the crowd’s enthusiasm for getting the Worldly Affair wrapped up in good shape. Two Business Class passengers – Mary Bell and Norm Johnson – are locked in a terrific battle for individual honors. Rumor has it that Mary, already leading 2,600 to 2,320 over Norm going into Friday, dropped off another $1,230! She was heard mumbling something about “$5,000.”  In the meantime, Wendi reported that all boarding passes have been purchased and that Teams Scotland and Japan lead the race for their chosen destinations. This will be an interesting three weeks!

Be sure you have your paperwork completed prior to drop-off at the Raffle Desk. And remember that all tickets have to be accounted for. Head Bursar Kevin Jewell said the State of Washington, who oversees all raffle activity, has to have each ticket counted. If you don’t sell all your tickets, you must turn them in unsold.

As an aside, Evison called Chris Monger forward to receive a jersey signed by Mariner designated hitter Edgar Martinez. Chris had told Brian earlier that he’d give $600 to the raffle if he could get his hands on a personally-signed jersey. Monger is now $600 poorer and the raffle wins!
