Friday Potpourri
Greeters: Polly Stansell & Dan Lewis
|
Kim Shrader, ever the traveling man, made it back from a week of company meetings to preside over Friday’s BBRC Meeting. He introduced Polly Stansell, who delivered the invocation and led the pledge to the flag.
Dan Lewis performed the Greeter duties. Three visiting Rotarians and a number of guests were recognized. One of our visiting Rotarians was perennial favorite Frank Young – Persona without Portfolio – who gave a wave-by-wave account of the U.S.’s entry in the America’s Cup race now underway in New Zealand. Heck, with Frank, who needs the Internet?
Rotary Exchange student Nacho visited the Club Friday. “I got an A in my first Physics test,” Nacho said proudly. Chris Monger, hard-working Exchange Chairperson, urged members to sign up to host Nacho (from Chile).
Peter Powell, Fellowship Chairperson, reminded members of calendar changes coming up. “We’re meeting November 1 at the Bellevue Library at 7:00 a.m. and at the Harbor Club for our annual Anniversary Dinner on November 15. There will be no meetings at Glendale on those dates.”

Past President Don Chandler was called upon to do some cheerleading. “Spirit, you talk about spirit, this club has spirit! When you joined the BBRC, you accepted an invitation to participate in Rotary. Here’s a reminder of what you committed to when you became a member: You need to attend our weekly meetings. The Board of Directors and the club have adopted the spirit of the 5-year-plan, which is shooting for an average of 80% attendance. This means members arrive at 7:00 a.m. and leave at 8:30 a.m. If the BBRC continues to be successful, it’s because you have determined to add your spirit to this club. All of us should look at our spirit and commit to being a 100% Rotarian.”
