Wheelchair Project

Phil Salvatori reported on progress for the Wheelchair Foundation. As you remember, the Club purchased 240 wheelchairs and, together with support from other Eastside clubs, a large shipment of wheelchairs was to be sent to Perm, Russia. “Unfortunately, we ran into some bureaucratic rules and we’ve decided there’ll be no shipping until all paperwork is completed.

“We contacted Greg Gourley of the Redmond Rousers, who is going soon on a special trip to Sierra Leone in Africa. Greg enthusiastically embraced the idea, but the bureaucrats again said no. We’re still trying to get the chairs to Sierra Leone and we’ve not given up on Perm and the Perm Rotary Club. These problems were greater than I anticipated and I’m sorry we haven’t been able to deliver. But, we will.”

So sayeth Guido, and when he says we’ll deliver, we will!
