 GSE Team Arrives

Five citizens from Rotary District 3340 in Thailand will represent their country during the GSE team’s 5-week stay in the United States, and particularly, District 5030. The Exchange is a linchpin of Rotary International’s programs that have continued over the past 40 years, bringing an exchange of people from all parts of the world. The 5030 Team has just returned from Thailand.

This year’s team leader is PDG Prasart Euprasert, who was District Governor of 3340 two years ago, and who is general manager of an ice plant, a Judge in the Juvenile and Family Court of Chonburi, and a member of the Rotary Club of Cholburi. The word is he looks a little like Dick Clarke – only with more hair. He is staying with John Sheeran.

There are two teachers, Soparat Phromhachai and Chankair Ruttunyoo, who are staying with hosts from the Bellevue Noon Club. Two younger women, Darunee Wongnonglang (was working for Hotel Sofitel, and now for Bangkok Airways) and Namphon Sukasem (a eentist, working in a hospital), are staying with Bernadette and Wallace Mahoney.

A focus of the exchange is for the guests to visit vocations that match their own. Rumor has it that Namphon Sukasem, the dentist, will spend some time Thursday with Dr. Mike Hyodo and his dental crew.

The Exchange team was met by their hosts Sunday afternoon, April 8th, and will accompany their guests to the BBRC Friday morning. On the weekend of April 27-29, they will travel to Vancouver and participate in the annual District Conference. (Link to Rotary District 5030 GSE website.)
