Tom Smith accepts the Rotarian-of-the-Month award from President Cary Kopczynski.

Chairperson of the Youth Services Committee Tom Smith was recognized by President Cary for his
extraordinary work on behalf of the Committee’s projects and, specifically, the recent Sammamish High School application for a Gates grant. Although the grant application was not
successful, the effort further cemented relationships between the BBRC and SHS faculty and students.
Tom joined the BBRC in 1997 and has been a whirlwind in various projects,
particularly in the youth arena. He has been especially productive using his analytical prowess to help the Club outline new directions and put better
monitoring controls in place. Tom has a year to go as a law school student at the UW. Soon, he’ll be able to change his classification and update the
“Military-Air Force-Retired” moniker he now holds. Congratulations, Tom! Your leadership is appreciated!
President Kopczynski “graciously” accepts responsibility for the upside-downer of an inscription on John Mix’s ROTM plaque.

Mix Gives Plaque Baque
After quick inspection of Tom Smith’s new plaque, John Mix rose to return his R-O-T-M
plaque so “graciously given back in October.” It seems that Mix has put off displaying the plaque in his office because the inscription plate was applied upside down. With a closer look,
President Kopczynski allowed as how he was the one who affixed the inscription and he would take care of the problem. Pretty nice service, wouldn’t you say?
