 District 5030 International Chairs Meeting

District Governor Nominee Rosemary Aragon presided over a meeting March 12 which reviewed the activities of District clubs in International projects. One session dealt with Russia, and Bill Robinson gave an excellent presentation on Russia’s economic, political, and legislative realities. He talked about the new laws being passed which are necessary for participating in a market economy. He also described four important development phases in a business or Rotary relationship: 1) building trust relationships, 2) resolving public sector/private sector issues, 3) defining project financing, and 4) identifying (and mitigating) risk management. Bill also went over the 10+ Russia Match projects and their status.

A March 31st deadline produced a large group of matching grants by participating Rotary Clubs of District 5030. Aragon noted the two major themes were computers and helping children. Some of the grants submitted included:

  • Bellevue Downtown Rotary: books, computers, educational materials for library and recreation hall, a bus for Katmandu School for the Deaf in Katmandu, Nepal
