DESCRIPTION:Dr. Patricia Townsend – Associate Professor / Environment and Community Outreach Specialist\nWashington State University\nWashington State is a leader on climate solutions in many ways. We have the Climate Commitment Act\, a governor who is passionate about climate\, and ample clean energy. Yet\, our greenhouse gas emissions in Washington State have not started to decline. All of us and especially our front-line communities are vulnerable to the impacts. There are many actions that we can take every day to help our communities and increase resilience for current and future generations. \nMartin Clavijo will introduce Dr. Townsend. \nAbout the Speaker\nPatricia Townsend is an Associate Professor and Environment and Community Outreach Specialist at Washington State University Extension. She leads the Washington Climate Education and Extension Team\, the Washington State Naturalist program and the environment and community outreach programs in Snohomish County. Patricia is also working to bring a Climate Stewards program to many communities in Washington State. She completed her doctoral work at the University of Washington working on tropical forest conservation in Costa Rica. Patricia loves helping people learn about the environment and especially working with Spanish-speaking communities.

DESCRIPTION:Heather Evans / Ivanova Smith  – President / Community Collaboration Manager\nPNW Partners for Work Rotary / Washington State Developmental Disabilities\nIn the last grant cycle\, Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club partnered with PNW Partners for Work Rotary Club to support students with intellectual disabilities in the Bellevue School District\, making a difference for local students leaving school. Come learn more about the direct impact that grant had on students in our community! Additionally hear Ivanova Smith\, PNW Partners for Work Sargeant at Arms\, share her incredible personal testimony as a person growing up with disabilities. \nAbout the Speaker\nIvanova Smith is a leader of Washington’s self-advocacy movement as a member of People First of Washington and the faculty of the UW LEND program in Seattle. Ivanova was employed as an activist advocate for Atwork!\, where they advocate for employment equality for people with disabilities. Just last month\, Ivanova accepted a position with the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration as their Community Collaboration Manager. Ivanova lives in Tacoma\, is happily married to Ian Smith and parent to little girls\, Alexandra and Hildegard. \nHeather Evans (she/her) is PNW Partners for Work Rotary Club President and Technical Assistance and Training Manager for the national training organization Wise. Wise promotes equitable employment for people with disabilities through innovation\, training and technical assistance

This years’ event will be held on Sunday\, April 27\, 2025\, at the Bellevue Downtown Park and aims to support children with autism and their families and caregivers. The event includes a 5K run/walk and a Kids Dash\, making it a family-friendly event that encourages participation from all age groups. Your participation\, whether as a runner\, volunteer\, or sponsor\, will make a significant impact on the lives of many families in our community. \nAbout the Speaker\nKevin Klustner is an entrepreneurial executive with a proven track record of success in enterprise\, SaaS (AWS) and clean tech software. Particular focus on clean technologies\, smart grid\, distributed energy resources and behind the meter energy efficiency programs. Kevin is also a long and strong Rotarian of Bellevue Breakfast Rotary\, participating in a wide range of community service projects and club activities. He is a member of the board of Malaria Partners International. Kevin also is the Chair of the Steering Committee for the upcoming Global Malaria Eradication Conference which will be held in Calgary in June of 2025.

Additionally\, he has led efforts to identify surplus public and vacant private property to provide innovative housing solutions for homeless residents. John’s focus on modernizing operations has resulted in accurate and fair property valuations\, as well as a tenfold increase in monthly pageviews on the Assessor’s website.
