SUMMARY:Photographing the Beauty and Wonder of Birds in Flight
DESCRIPTION:Peter Cavanagh – Photographer and Author\nhttps://www.petercavanagh.us/\nIn this presentation\, Lopez Island photographer Peter Cavanagh will take us on a virtual journey to see iconic birds in remote places around the world. During his travels\, he has taken images for his new book 100 Flying Birds: Photographing the Mechanics of Flight. He will also discuss the current worrying global trend of decline in bird populations. \nIn his book “100 Flying Birds”\, Peter not only has photographs of a gorgeous variety of birds\, but information on their unique flight skills and characteristics including statistics on their populations. His book can be purchased through Amazon here: \n \nAbout the Speaker\nPeter Cavanagh is a Pacific Northwest wildlife photographer and author who has been taking photographs since he was a boy of five growing up in England. After a career in academia as a Professor of Biomechanics at Penn State\, the Cleveland Clinic\, and the University of Washington (which included almost 20 years of research for NASA) Peter has devoted himself full-time to bird photography. His images have been included three times in the Top 100 Bird Photographs of the Year by the Audubon Society. His book 100 Birds in Flight: Photographing the Mechanics of Flight was published by Firefly Books in November 2021. Peter is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association. He guest curated the Exhibit How Birds Fly at the Seattle Museum of Flight. DESCRIPTION:Bellevue Breakfast Rotary presents a “Prohibition Classic  Christmas” distillery tour with Copperworks’s President and Co-Founder – Jason Parker. You can join us in Person or Via Zoom\, it’s your call!  \n\n\n\nFriday\, December 17\, 2021 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM.  \n\n\n\nCome in your “roaring 20’s” prohibition best and learn about how this award-winning whiskey is made.  Enjoy a selection of cocktails (Vesper Martini\, Seattle Sling and Old Fashioned) using Copperworks’ spirits. These will be offered with a southern BBQ meal and a house band playing music for our entertainment.
