DESCRIPTION:Marcee Merriam – Autism Navigator\nKindering Center\nIn her presentation\, Marcee will share her personal connection to Rotary\, her experience as a mother of an autistic child\, and her work supporting families on their Autism journey. She brings her personal experience – her “Mom PhD” – and understanding to her work at Kindering\, helping families get set up for success and process complex emotions following an autism diagnosis. Marcee is passionate about the early support services Kindering provides\, she says “helping children and families early makes a huge difference later\, as children are able to use their gifts and talents to be a vital part of their communities.” \nAbout the Speaker\nMarcee Merriam is Kindering’s Autism Navigator and has worked at the organization for five years. In her role\, she manages the schedule of Kindering’s Medical Director\, Dr. Dan Tolson\, and supports families following an autism diagnosis. Marcee sits on many advisory boards\, including for Seattle Children’s Autism Center and the University of Washington Autism Center. Marcee’s work is centered on reducing the wait time for children to receive an autism diagnosis and to empower healthcare professionals throughout Washington to better support families.\nMarcee is also the mom of an autistic son who enjoys using his gifts and talents to be a blessing to others – and so he is. Her work is therefore close to her heart\, and she uses her “mom PhD” every day.
