Hear from the Seattle Director for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)\, Dr. Joseph Williams\, about how PNNL works in conjunction with the public and private sector to enhance the resiliency of U.S. energy systems\, sustain U.S. leadership in a global clean energy economy\, and promote healthy environments through our climate security capabilities. (Did you know: PNNL has 5\,500 employees based mostly in the State of Washington\, 235 of whom are located in Seattle?) \nAbout the Speaker\nDr. Williams is responsible for the strategy and daily oversight of PNNL’s Seattle Research Center. Joseph is a member of the Lab’s National Security Directorate’s extended leadership teaml his research and engagement portfolio includes innovation management\, quantum computing\, and AI assurance. He supports the operational functions required to enable the missions of national security sponsors for programs delivered via PNNL’s Seattle office. Joseph holds a TS/SCI clearance. Previously\, Joseph was Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s ICT Sector Lead\, serving as the Governor’s tech policy advisor and as the Commerce Department’s tech industry Director of Economic Development.\nJoseph is a former executive at Microsoft who led teams in software engineering\, sales engineering\, and consulting. He was the CTO for Microsoft’s $24 billion enterprise sales division and ran the customer success program for Microsoft’s Global Accounts program. Prior to Microsoft\, Joseph led one of the Advanced Internet Practices at Sun Microsystems. Dr. Williams was also once the dean of the School of Business\, Government\, and Economics at Seattle Pacific University and was once a tenured associate professor in the College of Business at Colorado State University. Professor Williams’ research focus was on search engines\, networking\, and computer architectures. He is currently an associate editor for IEEE Computing and the area editor for Computing Architectures. Dr. Williams earned a BA in Rhetoric from UC-Berkeley\, an MA in Communication Arts from UW-Madison\, an MBA from UT-Austin\, and a PhD in Management Science from UT-Austin.

DESCRIPTION:Gil McNabb – Engineering Manager\nWashington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)\nThe presentation content will include an overview of the Renton to Bellevue project\, information about upcoming closures at the Main St Bridge closure in downtown Bellevue\, the current project schedule\, and how you can stay informed and contact WSDOT with questions during the project. \nAbout the Speaker\nGil McNabb has been at WSDOT for over 36 years.  He spent five years at WSDOT’s Northwest Region office as an Engineering Manager. His 12 most recent years have been at the I-405/SR 167 Program as the Engineering Manager. Gil managed and worked on the Bellevue Braids Project and the I-405 Northbound Concrete Paving in downtown Bellevue. \nPreviously\, Gil worked worked at WSDOT design and construction. He was as a project engineer at the Everett Office\, where he worked on Sound Transit and Community Transit projects as well as the Direct Access project at the 164th Park and Ride. He also was an inspector at the I-90 Project Office on Mercer Island where he worked on the tunnels at Island Crest Way as well as the 76th\, 77th\, and 80th bridge structures. \nGill is a graduate of Washington State University where he majored in Civil Engineering.

He has been active in the Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce\, where he was a Board Director and Past President\, and is a Past President of the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority.\n\nJesse is an education advocate and served for 15 years on the Seattle University Albers School of Business Advisory Board and has mentored undergraduate and graduate students in business at Seattle University and the University of Washington for over30 years. He has been involved with Rotary for 35+ years\, including holding positions of President of Rotary Club of Seattle International and Rotary District Governor 5030 (2008-2009) as well as writes a blog “Rotary Friendship”.
