I Want YOU For Fellowship!

Reply to Carmela Ramaglia

DACdb doesn’t list Fellowship as a separate committee, so I don’t know who wants to be part of the most FUN committee at the BBRC. So in the spirit of inclusion, you are officially invited to be on my Fellowship Committee!! Just hit the Blue Button to reply and let me know you want in.

Our First Fellowship Committee Meeting of the New Rotary Year is TUESDAY, August 7th at the Azteca on 112th. The meeting will officially begin at 5:00 pm, but feel free to come early and enjoy Happy Hour!

If you can’t make the meeting, but still want to be on Fellowship, just let me know so I can get you on my list!!

Yours in YAY!!

RTW: HIGHLAND FLING AND FELLOWSHIP MADE FOR A TREMENDOUS NIGHT

by Kaj Pedersen

A few came in style with their tartan glory

Thanks to the amazing organization of the Fellowship committee, we had a packed event at the Newport Yatch Club for our RTW on 30th June.  Eighty-three attendees joined in the fun and the Highland Fling gathering.  We had a number of members join in the spirit with their Scottish attire and outfits to support the theme of the night.  Our own Paul Harris and the Fellows were tremendous in their musical performance and were able to pack the floor with dancers throughout most of the evening.

We took the opportunity to thank the board and our outgoing President for their service this past

The Scotch is never far away from the kilts!

Rotary year.  We also took the opportunity to recognize Joellen Monson for many years of dedicated service to the BBRC by making her a Paul Harris Fellow.  Wendi Fischer was our Rotarian of the Year for her work with the M3v work-group and membership.  Finally, Kaj Pedersen handed over the President’s pin to Chris Boland our new President for Rotary year 2018-19 and he took the opportunity to introduce his new board.

With the ceremonies over the rest of the evening was dedicated to fellowship and fun, as only the BBRC knows how to do very well!  Thank you everyone for making this a night to remember.

BBRC Fellowship in Action at Leavenworth Retreat

by Kaj Pedersen

Fellowship fun in Leavenworth

Thank you to our members who were able to attend our Retreat reboot this weekend.  We had 23 members from the club come to Leavenworth for fellowship and strategic planning for Rotary year 2018-19.  Dennis Newell and the organizing committee planned for a fun, active and involved gathering this year – wine tasting, golfing, dinner and games night, which were all followed by lively & engaged discussion on Saturday.

Wendi Fischer leading the discussion at our Retreat

Many ideas were discussed during the session, facilitated by Wendi Fischer, and these included membership engagement, fund raising, programs, fellowship and service projects.  A number of ideas were presented and discussed with the view that these will be incorporated into Chris Boland’s plan for his Presidency.  We will be following up with the outcomes for our club membership, so that they can learn about our ideas and thoughts for the upcoming Rotary year.

Our thanks to the members, including many past presidents, for their passion and ideas in support of the club’s success for the future.

Fellowship Field Trip - Holocaust Center

Reply to Carmela Ramaglia

The Holocaust Center for Humanity will be exhibiting the North America Premiere of the Anne Frank – Let Me Be Myself Exhibit.  The Fellowship Committee has organized a personal tour for our Club on Sunday, March 18th – 11:30am.

The exhibition shows the story of Anne Frank from her birth in 1929 up to her death in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.

Anne Frank is a Jewish girl who has to go into hiding during World War Two to escape from the Nazis. Together with seven others she hides in an attic area of a home in Amsterdam. After more than two years in hiding they are discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. After her death Anne becomes world famous because of the diary she wrote while in hiding.

Space on our tour is limited – please RSVP as soon as possible.

The Holocaust Center for Humanity is located at 2045 – 2nd Avenue, Seattle.

Fireside Chat with Mark Hough

Reply to Carmela Ramaglia

Join our very own Mark Hough in the Glendale Bar after our January 15th meeting to hear more stories of his time overseas. Mark spoke on “Implementing US Foreign Policy – Nurturing the Rule of Law in Two Very Different Post-Conflict Countries” last November. One meeting was not long enough to hear about his experiences, what he learned, and what perspectives he can offer. So join us in a “follow-up” discussion of his time abroad.
