Sunday morning April 29th 2012 was a typical northwest gray morning for most of Western Washington, but the more than 2200 runners that showed up for the BBRC 10K/5K Run/Walk the conditions were perfect – not too hot and no rain!
Our speaker, David Cameron, MD, introduced Direct Primary Care, which prioritizes improved patient access to their primary care provider and revives the doctor-patient relationship through an innovative and affordable model of health care delivery.
Bob Holert introduced Leonard Garfield, Executive Director of the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) for an update on the relocation of the museum. Because of the construction of the new SR 520 bridge, the current museum property has been condemned. Its last day open to the public will be June 7. It will open to the public in its new location, the old Naval Reserve Center at South Lake Union in December.
President Elect, Chris Monger, jumped the gun on the Annual Retreat, to be held on the weekend of April 21-22 in conjunction with the District Conference in Coeur d’Alene. He asked each table to discuss three topics: 1) How to make the meetings shine for members and guests; 2) What can we do to continue to prosper and keep the members engaged and involved; and 3) Should we take on another major project?
Husky Bob Holert introduced guest speaker Steve Moses, the founder of the Center for Long-Term Care Reform. Steve’s passion is to achieve top quality long-term care by encouraging private financing as an alternative to government programs.
